I've just discovered Dutch singer Caro Emerald thanks to Miss Rosina Lee and her great blog. Errrrrm, how have I not heard this chick before?! She. Is. Awesome. Love her voice, her videos, her style... but of course the law of sod had to step in and remind me that I'm not around on the one night she seems to be playing in London in the near future. Typical. Or I'd have been down that Jazz Bar faster than... something fast.
Anyways, here are a couple of vids for you to watch, turn it up and I guarantee you'll be tapping your feet and most probably dancing a bit after the first few seconds of "That Man".
Inspired by films and music from the 40's and 50's, her album 'Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor' is "an exciting and hugely accessible record, featuring ballroom jazz, cinematic tangoes, groovin' jazz tracks and infectious mambo's that sound like they were recorded in 1951 in Hollywood's most famous recording studios."
What a brilliant Sunday night discovery... Enjoy!x
